Amanda and Shane... Married!

From the first time I sat down with Amanda at a planning session at Starbucks, I knew she and Shane were going to be incredible to work with. Amanda told their story with light in her eyes, "we met in a bar..." she laughed. This wedding, with its beautiful details and stunning light, stands out to me not because so much of the look of things was ideal (it was). What stands out is how incredible Amanda and Shane are together and how deeply their friends and family love them. I know weddings are supposed to be celebrations, and this one certainly was, from beginning to end. Getting ready was rooms full of enthusiastic bridesmaids and groomsmen. The first look was tender and gorgeous. Even the more formal photos passed with laughter and genuine smiles. The ceremony felt meaningful and real. The reception had all the makings of a great party: a fantastic venue, Artspace 111, good food, fun decor, dancing, drinks and people committed to having a good time. No one wanted to leave at the end of the night. Signing a contract means I commit to being a vendor, but I love that the nature of photography means the process of doing engagement photos and planning a wedding leading up to the day creates context for how I show up. Amanda and Shane became my friends, and I was entrusted with capturing visual memories of the day they committed their lives to each other. I am so excited for these two and am honored to share this blog.

Jason & Ashleigh... Engaged

I did a mini-session with Jason and Ashleigh last Saturday, and it was so fun to get to know them a bit before their December wedding! The light was lovely, and I'm so excited for these two. It's always a gift to see a couple in love. Just a quick preview of their photographs...

The One Where Sarah and Brandon Got Engaged

I'm not sure what was more impressive about Brandon's proposal plan- that he hired a photographer to capture the event or that he designed a website to pop the question. That he also pulled it off as a surprise for Sarah is pretty incredible... Brandon hired me, then loaded the aforementioned website on an i-Pad, which he gave Sarah as a birthday gift. After she scrolled through the site, he got down on one knee. She said yes.

Congratulations are in order. So happy for these two! And so loved getting to tell a part of their story visually.

Bekah and Russ are Engaged!!! {Raleigh Wedding Photographer}

Bekah and Russ will get married next spring, and I love that I got to do their engagement session while I was in Raleigh, NC for Bekah's brother's wedding (blog coming up). These two have great rapport and are laid back and fun. We ventured to their wedding venue and then to NC State for their photos, as these are locations that matter to them and that are huge parts of their story. It was a sticky, hot afternoon, and we made the best of it. The end result is a collection of photographs that celebrate the good stuff of life and being in love. Cannot wait to photograph this wedding!

Winter Wedding in Whistler

A tiny, gorgeous, perfect wedding in the middle of a frozen lake in Whistler, British Colombia... The bride braved the cold in her Hunter boots. The groom beamed as he slid across the icy lake to say his vows. Spanish vows and tequila shots, a woodsy walk and a mountainous backdrop. It was heaven. I was the second photographer for my dear friend Anastasia Chomlack (how amazing is her work?!?), and we marveled at the beauty of the day. I'm so excited to share these images.

Stacey and Derrick are Married! {Fort Worth Wedding Photographer}

Stacey and Derrick made an impression from the beginning, and I knew their wedding would be a blast to photograph. They love each other and life, and their friends and family were ecstatic to witness this union. They wed at Stacey's childhood church and celebrated their reception at the Fort Worth Club, a venue I love to work with. These photos look like love, joy, bliss, beauty and more to me. Such a glorious day.

Stacey's Bridals

Downtown Fort Worth provided the backdrop for this gorgeous bride's bridal portraits. We laughed a lot. A gallery owner invited us in for photos. The sun shone just enough. We did these just a week before her wedding, so that blog is coming right up. For now, though, Stacey's bridals...

Katie and Anthony

Katie and Anthony got married last year in a private ceremony and celebrated a few weeks ago. We did a few photos of just the two of them before things got rolling and then spent the evening with their friends and family. I loved how loved they are and how they love each other.

A bonus of this gathering? My very first birth clients were there. So fun to see how their little miss has grown.
